Anyone else get a high pitched whine coming from their dash or somewhere near there when the truck is under a load. Never hear it while not in tow. But when I have my trailer with the bronco on it I get a whine when I accelerate. And it's not the turbo, don't even say that. It sounds almost like it's coming from a speaker behind the dash....

More importantly my truck overheats a lot while towing, there are two ways to bring the temp back down. One is to let off the gas and it slowly goes down. OR...... Full throttle and it shoots back to normal levels, makes me thing the water pump is not working like it should and works best while spinning faster...

any thoughts?

Don't know about the noise you are hearing. Haven't heard that yet, but the overheating is probably dust and dirt build up on the radiator.

it typically gets trapped between the intercooler and the radiator plugging the radiator.
I would start there with washing that out. It doesn't take much.

In between the two is where the dirt is.

I usually use a hose or low pressure and blow through the radiator fan and through the radiator back towards the front of the truck as much as I can.

Then spray water down between the two of them to rinse the rest of it off.

I will def try that and then next time I tow I'll see if it works the right way!

Fordtruckman, i also notice the same noise when under a heavy load but am unsure of what it is. i thought it may have been just mine, but one day as i was driving through town without a load, there was a PSD next to me, accelerating after our light changed to green and i heard the same noise. Mines a 2002 w the 7.3

Well, this was about my old truck. My 2005 6.0 and the overheating was a head gasket leak. I have since gotten that fixed, put an EGR delete and new studs on it and sold the truck. Then I bought a 97 7.3 that is giving me a whole other list of problems.... Prob gonna put a cummins into that tho... Not sure yet.

But, I don't think this noise I used to hear in that truck could be heard from the outside, it sounded very quiet but inside the truck you could def hear it...
